Scouts - Camp Cook Badge
9th September 2012
Congratulations to all 14 Scouts who successfully completed their Camp Cook Badge at Lapwing Lodge this weekend.
To achieve this Scouts had to cook their dinner and breakfast using open wood fires. However, before they could do this they first had to gather, chop and saw all their wood. Dinner was chicken curry and rice and after a painstaking almost 2 hours, from first match to last serving, dinner was served. Breakfast was more instant (about 45 mins), steaming porridge and jam, followed by the reward of a (shop bought) croissant.
As well as firelighting, axe & saw and cooking Scouts also had to pitch and strike all their tents. In addition, 6 Scouts had the opportunity to spend the night in a patrol tent. A busy Sunday morning was rounded off by Scouts completing the Lapwing Assault course.
A huge thank you to all the leaders for helping make the weekend such a success.
