3rd December 2011
As we get near Christmas, its great to see all our sections in full swing and so many young people enjoying themselves.
Congratulations to Ruaridh Mackay on getting his Chief Scouts Gold Award, the highest award a Scout can achieve. To get this award, Ruaridh completed 8 challenge badges. Well done, Ruaridh!
Ruaridh was presented with his badge at the Ski Centre on Friday night.
Congratulations to Aidan & Thomas who were invested as Scouts the week before last.
And more congratulations! This time to Morgan Wood, APL in the Scout section, who last weekend was selected for Blair Atholl 2012.

A huge 'well done' to our cubs who did a bag pack at Sainsburys Muirend last Saturday and Sunday. They collected over £800!!!! Well done to all the cubs who gave up their time to do this. And thanks to Lesley Mackay for organising it and being there over the whole 2 days. The money will pay for the Beavers' tickets to the Pantomime on Dec 10th and go towards Cub activities next year.
The Beavers had a cook in on Tuesday - the smell of baking biscuits was delicious. And did the Beavers look pleased with themselves!! They followed this up with Canadian Barn dancing. How to really celebrate St Andrews day.
Race Night was a resounding success. Over £700 raised, to help towards funds. Thanks to Lesley, John & Elie from the Group Executive for its organisation and Jack Rae for calculating the odds. Everyone there had a great time - next year same time same place. Put it in your diary now for a great evening. [17th Nov 2012 J].
We say good bye to Gordon Stirling who has been our Treasurer for the past three years. Gordon has been a terrific support to the Group, having our accounts ready each year for audit, preparing the paperwork for the Charities Commissioner and keeping an eagle eye on our Gift Aid claims.
Thank you, Gordon, for all the help you have given the 145th Group over the past three years.
As we say goodbye to Gordon, a warm welcome to Niall Mackay who takes over as Group Treasurer.
Finally Bear Grylls, the Chief Scout, was on Radio 4's Desert Island Discs last week. Quiz questions - Who gave him 'Bear' as his nickname? What is his real first name? http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/features/desert-island-discs/find-a-castaway/audio/download
