Scout Arran Expedition Underway
5th April 2011
Despite some pretty foul weather the Scout Arran Expedition is now well underway. We departed for Arran on Monday and after a very stormy crossing, where 4 Scouts and 1 Leader got soaked on deck from a large wave, we arrived safely in our base for the next few days, Lochranza Youth Hostel. The afternoon weather improved and we made a start to the expedition, walking around the north end of the island around the shore line from Lochranza.
Today (Tuesday) we headed to the south of the island by local bus to complete a cross island walk from Kilmory to Lamlash. After a dry start the rain swept in and 17 slightly soggy walkers returned to the youth hostel around 6.00 p.m. to dry off. Tomorrow (Wednesday) the hope is to travel to the Mull of Kintyre from Lochranza to Claonaig on the ferry to do a section of the Kintyre Way. Here's hoping the weather improves!
