Fundraising

In order to raise funds for the expedition the Unit are currently involved in recycling the following:

Mobile phones – those that are in working condition can have some recycle value.  Please remove SIM cards (any SIM card sent in error will be removed and destroyed but for security reasons cannot be returned).  Phones must have a battery and be working to have any value although those that do not work or are too damaged to recycle will be accepted to reduce harmful chemicals going to landfill.  It is not necessary to send the chargers (although these will be accepted).

Inkjet cartridges - over 13 million plastic inkjet cartridges are sent to landfill in the UK every year.  Whilst these have a small recyclable value every little helps.  Note you cannot recycle Epson cartridges or previously recycled cartridges, only original HP, Lexmark and some Canon (i.e. those with a metal contact strip).

Worn clothes/Rags – whilst charity shops are happy to receive clothes in good condition for resale, they are not interested in worn or damaged material.  The Explorer Scouts will collect any old clothing, shoes (please pair shoes together), bags belts bedding etc not suitable for resale.  Bags are available from Section Leaders.
